10/3 - Historic Home Tour: Tour of select Victorian homes, bed and breakfast inns, churches and the Point Pinos lighthouse. Costumed docents provide histories at each location - Pacific Grove - 373-3304

10/8-10 - Jeffers Tor House Fall Festival: Annual event includes re-enactments, special readings, speakers, theatre, music, benefit luncheon, sunset celebration, guided beach walks and more, all celebrating the life and works of early 20th century poet Robinson Jeffers - Carmel - 624-1813

10/8-10 - 13th Annual Jade Festival: Discover jade, gems, wood and stone at this weekend festival, held at Pacific Valley School, 65 miles south of Monterey, 35 miles north of Hearst Castle - Big Sur -667-2276

10/9 - 11th Annual Old Monterey Seafood and Music Festival: Fresh clam chowder, salmon, shrimp and sushi, live music and crafts, all around Custom House Plaza and Alvarado Street - Monterey - 655-8070

10/15-17 - Fry's Electronics Sports Car Championships: This racing weekend includes a 3.5-hour main event which runs past dusk for true Le Mans style racing. 10/16 - Marina Air Faire: Vintage planes, including rare, still-flying warbirds like Stearmans, descend on Marina's airport. They are joined by local hot-rod and vintage car clubs, plus food, fun and entertainment - Marina - 582-0102

10/17 - Big Sur Half Marathon and 5K Run: Two fun-filled events for runners at all levels. The Big Sur Half Marathon begins and ends in downtown Monterey, taking in Cannery Row and Pacific Grove along the way. The "Run Forrest Run 5K" is sponsored by Bubba Gump's restaurant, complete with entertainment along the course - Monterey - 625-6226

10/23-24 - 20th Anniversary Celebrations: The Monterey Bay Aquarium celebrates its 20th anniversary with special guest lectures, visitor programs, conservation education booths and much more - Monterey Bay Aquarium, Monterey - 648-4888

10/24 - Monterey Beer Festival: Lift a tankard at the Second Monterey Beer Festival! There'll be dozens of ales and lagers from top micro, major and international breweries, interesting merchandise, and great nibbles. 10/29-31 - Changing Seasons Art Event: Mark the changing of the seasons by touring 20 of Carmel's finest art galleries. 'Passport' holders enjoy special hors d'oeuvres and wine-tasting as they explore participating galleries, each hosting special exhibits and silent auctions - Carmel - 624-9035

10/30 - Carmel's 88th Birthday Party: Join Carmelites as they celebrate the city's official birthday with a morning parade followed by a barbecue. (Unofficially, Carmel is 101 years old, as its first developer laid out its streets in 1903!) - Carmel - 620-2020
