Along The Coast Highway...

	Just a few miles south of Carmel you'll come to the Point Lobos Reserve, often called "the crown jewel of the State Park System." Point Lobos offers outstanding recreation, such as sightseeing, photography, painting, nature study, picnicking, SCUBA diving, and jogging, in addition to the spectacular beauty.

Take an exciting drive to Big Sur along Highway 1 south of Carmel. On one side of this two-lane road are 5000-foot mountains and on the other side is a steep drop to the Pacific Ocean. Big Sur is about 26 miles south of Carmel..

A few miles south of Big Sur you'll come to the entrance to the famous ESALEN Institute. It's private, so don't go in unless you have a reservation

	On Highway 1, a quarter mile south of Nepenthe in Big Sur, you'll come to the Henry Miller Library, whose World Wide Web site is designed to give you access to the Library and its collection, as well as a taste of the Big Sur countryside Henry Miller found so beautiful.
